PV mounting system for flat roofs

RABLE offers an innovative PV mounting system for flat roofs, without ballast or expensive roof renovation. Our mounting systems are specially designed for commercial applications and combine stability with efficiency. Thanks to high-quality material and a smart design, our system ensures a quick and easy installation, saving you time and money. Suitable for every flat roof, RABLE offers the solution for sustainable solar energy projects.

A PV mounting system for weak roofs

Is your commercial roof considered too weak for a classic PV installation? You are not an exception. More than 50% of commercial roofs in the Netherlands are considered to be structurally too weak.

A strong supporting structure suitable for any roof

RABLE has designed a self-supporting PV mounting system that allows solar installations to be placed on weak roofs. With minimal attachment points, our mounting systems are fixed, and no heavy ballast is required.

Durable and reliable

Our system is perfect for roofs with limited load-bearing capacity, minimizes pressure on insulation and ensures durability and reliability when mounting solar panels on flat roofs.

Compatible with all types of solar panels

RABLE offers a flexible solution for all types of solar panels, regardless of weight or sizet. Our system uses industry standard mounting clamps and is carefully designed to seamlessly fit a variety of panel sizes, ensuring a reliable and stable installation, regardless of the type of solar panel.

The installation process

The installation process is simple and efficient. With 95% fewer mounting points than conventional PV mounting systems installation is faster and you maintain the integrity of the roof. You will receive a clear installation manual. Do you want extra support? We offer training and guidance for your first project.

Our calculator supports installers in determining the optimal configuration, so that all components fit together perfectly and the installation runs smoothly.

A PV mounting system, based on a truss principle

RABLE has developed an advanced self-supporting mounting system for solar panels on flat roofs. This system, based on a unique truss principle, allows installation without ballast, supports significant spans of roof beams up to 25 meters and ensures an even load across the field.

Technology

The fence forms a truss in the width crosswise direction. The steel cable creates a truss in the lengthwise direction. These two trusses over two axes form an extremely rigid structure.

Safety is paramount

Our PV system is designed with safety as the highest priority. That is why we place roof anchors at the ends of the structure to absorb wind forces. When the wind comes under the solar panels, it can cause an upward pressure, also called 'uplift'. This force can be strong, especially with large surfaces such as solar panels. With our anchor plan, your installation remains stable, even in strong winds.

What have we done to ensure safety?

RABLE had the system tested in a wind tunnel by the TU Delft and complies with the NEN1010 safety standards.

Save time and money with the PV mounting system for flat roofs

No heavy ballast required

This ballast-free approach not only simplifies the installation process significantly, but also eliminates the need for time-consuming procurement of materials and reduced physical labor, making our system ideal for weak roofs.

More sustainable and safer solution

By minimizing the risk of roofing damage - often caused by pressure points from traditional ballast - our system provides a more sustainable and safer solution for solar panel installations. Without the need to move heavy materials to the roof or make complicated stability calculations, projects can be completed faster.

Stability and reliability

Thanks to the use of strategically placed roof anchors at the ends of the structure, we also ensure the stability and reliability of the entire system. This approach significantly reduces the number of roof anchors required compared to conventional systems.

The benefits at a glance

Save time, costs and labor with our PV mounting system for flat roofs

No heavy ballast required

One of the biggest advantages of RABLE’s innovative flat roof solar mounting system is the absence of heavy ballast, such as bricks. This ballast-free approach not only simplifies the installation process significantly, but also eliminates the need for time-consuming procurement of materials, reduced physical labor, and extensive post-installation inspections. This makes the system ideal for weak roofs.

More sustainable and safer solution

By minimizing the risk of roofing damage - often caused by pressure points from traditional ballast - our system provides a more sustainable and safer solution for solar panel installations. Without the need to move heavy materials to the roof or perform complicated stability calculations, projects can be completed faster, directly contributing to lower total installation costs and reduced complexity on the job site.

Stability and reliability

Furthermore, by using strategically placed roof anchors at the ends of the structure, we ensure the stability and reliability of the entire system. This approach significantly reduces the number of roof anchors required compared to conventional systems, which not only reduces the installation time but also the structural impact on the roof.

Frequently asked questions about our PV mounting system

For which roofs is the RABLE system suitable?

The RABLE system is suitable for all flat roofs. For weak roofs it is a unique solution because it is a self-supporting system that distributes the weight evenly over the trusses and/or beams of a roof. The system carries its own weight and that of the panels. It can therefore be applied directly to weak roofs, without structural renovation (and investments) to buildings with limitations in the roof construction. Ballast is also not necessary.

Our mounting system weighs 3 kg/m². The total load including standard panels (10-12 kg/m²) is a maximum of 13 kg/m². With lightweight panels such as Solarge or Energyra the maximum load is 7,5 kg/m².

Is RABLE suitable for roofs with limited load-bearing capacity?

Yes! What makes RABLE unique is that it is a self-supporting mounting system. The system carries both its own weight and that of the panels. This makes it directly applicable to roofs with limited load-bearing capacity, without the need for structural renovations or investments in the roof structure. In addition, no ballast is required.

How is the system attached to the roof?

Our RABLE mounting system uses roof anchors that are applied to the ends of the structure to effectively control uplift forces. This system requires up to 80% fewer roof anchors compared to traditional systems, which offers a cost-effective solution. For each project, we determine the number of roof anchors required taking into account factors such as building height and wind zone. This ensures a safe installation with minimal roof loading and lower installation costs.

Does it work with any type of panel?

RABLE is suitable for all types of solar panels, regardless of weight or size. We use industry standard mounting clamps and also take into account the different dimensions that panels can have.

Are there installers who use RABLE systems?

RABLE has a good relationship with the roof constructors and can quickly switch over the application of a solar installation with RABLE. Need help? Contact us.

What certificates are there?

RABLE system has the required certificates regarding corrosion requirements and NEN 1010. Laying plans are supplied in accordance with the requirements of NEN 7250, based on, among other things, the Eurocodes for snow and wind loads. We also have a wind tunnel certification that you can find under ''downloads'' on our website.

Do RABLE tension cables cause energy loss?

The steel cables cause a limited shadow cast, which results in a yield loss < 3%. Good to know that the RABLE has a walkway every 4 panels (instead of every 2 panels with a traditional mounting system). This more than compensates for the small amount of energy loss of the steel cable.

Which types of roofs are suitable for our system?

Our system is suitable for flat roofs with a slope of up to 10 degrees and works on all types of roofing such as EPDM, PVC and Bitumen, and on steel and concrete roof panels.
