RABLE's contribution to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)
In 2015, the United Nations set seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the ambition to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people can live in peace and prosperity by 2030. Companies worldwide are challenged to contribute to these goals through their business operations, innovations and technologies. Due to the ever-increasing impact of climate change, there is an increasing focus on this challenge and how companies act on the set SDGs.
Our mission is to help companies do this, and we do this by making solar panels more accessible to buildings that were previously excluded from this sustainable solution. RABLE's unique technology makes it possible to install solar panels efficiently and without heavy loads on flat roofs that are not suitable for traditional installations. As a result, RABLE plays an active role in achieving multiple SDGs. In this blog you can read more about our contribution to SDG 9 and SDG 7.
RABLE's contribution to SDG 9
This SDG focuses on building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and stimulating innovation. The aim is to build a foundation on which economic growth can take place, with technology and innovation at the centre to address modern challenges such as environmental protection and climate change. SDG 9 recognises that sustainable industrial development, when coupled with innovation and infrastructure, is key to economic growth and access to essential services.
RABLE has developed an innovative mounting system that will revolutionize the way solar panels are installed on flat roofs, especially on roofs that were previously considered unsuitable due to structural limitations. Our system is designed to be efficient and self-supporting, meaning it does not require heavy ballast or major embankment reinforcements. At the heart of our technology is a half-timbered design which is applied both lengthwise and crosswise, combined with a patented tension cable that is tensioned over the length of the mounting system.
This construction makes it possible to realise large spans, whereby the construction rests exclusively on the existing roof trusses. The unique and therefore innovative aspect of our system is that the load is evenly distributed over the supporting parts of the roof, which minimises the load on less sturdy parts such as roof panels.
- Innovation: Our mounting system breaks with traditional installation methods by introducing a new design that is safer, more sustainable and more accessible. This innovation is not only aimed at improving existing technologies, but also at making solar solutions possible where this previously seemed impossible.
- Industrial design and production: RABLE’s system uses advanced engineering techniques and materials to improve the efficiency and performance of solar energy systems, encouraging the industry to move toward more sustainable and technologically advanced manufacturing processes.
- Infrastructure development: By implementing our system on a large scale, the renewable energy infrastructure can be expanded. This promotes the deployment of green energy infrastructures worldwide, which is essential for sustainable development.
The RABLE system perfectly illustrates how technical innovation can contribute to sustainable industry and infrastructure, which are core aspects of SDG 9. Such technological breakthroughs are crucial for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals globally.
Our contribution to SDG 7: Accessible energy
SDG 7 aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. This goal recognizes that energy is fundamental to almost every major challenge and opportunity the world faces today, including improving the quality of life for billions of people, economic growth and reducing carbon emissions. Affordable and clean energy is essential for promoting sustainable development and is a key factor in limiting global temperature rise.
RABLE's innovative mounting system plays a direct role in advancing SDG 7.
By making solar more accessible, we have made it possible to use this critical source of clean energy. Our system enables more locations to harness solar, including those with structural limitations that prevent traditional installations.
RABLE eliminates the need for heavy ballast or major structural modifications, meaning that buildings with weaker roofs can also be equipped with solar panels. This significantly increases the accessibility and therefore potential of solar energy, especially in urban areas where many roofs were previously unusable for such installations. By promoting the use of solar energy, RABLE helps to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and lower carbon emissions. Solar energy is a clean energy source that directly contributes to a reduction of the ecological footprint, in line with the objectives of SDG 7.
Providing a cost-effective solution for installing solar panels helps reduce energy costs for businesses and households. This contributes to affordable energy solutions, making sustainable energy economically viable for a wider audience.
RABLE’s technology is scalable and can be applied at scale, increasing the potential for clean energy generation. This not only impacts local communities, but can also be rolled out nationally and internationally to have a greater impact on the use of renewable energy sources.
Through these factors, RABLE's mounting system contributes to achieving SDG 7 by promoting clean energy access in places previously limited in their ability to contribute to a more sustainable energy future. This illustrates how business innovations can directly contribute to global goals that are essential for the future of our planet.
